Coronado Springs Resort Pools

The Lost City of Cibola - Dig Site Complex

In my opinion, the Dig Site at CSR is the best area of the resort. You can't help but feel as if you are on a resort somewhere in Mexico basking in the sun. This wonderfully themed area includes a huge pool (120-by-90), mostly 4ft deep but ranges from 3ft 6"/1.1m to 5 ft/1.5m. There is also a sand volleyball court, the largest outdoor hot tub on WDW property, the Explorer's Playground, and the Iguana Arcade. The Dig Site pool is heated to 82º and is open everyday including winter.

The focal point of the resort, the Dig Site's 46 foot tall Mayan pyramid themed as a modern archaeological dig of an ancient lost kingdom. A beautiful waterfall flows down the ceremonial stone steps and into the pool.

Nighttime lighting resembles that which you would imagine at a dig site. The Dig Site and life guard hours vary depending on the season you visit but typical pool hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm. and 10:00am to 11:00pm for the lifeguards. If you are able to get to the Dig Site early, kids are asked to participate in the opening ceremony (usually 10am). It's usually performed daily. Check for pool opening times at the concierge desk or at the pool. The lifeguards will call all the kids (and anyone that wants to particiapte) over to sit on the steps of the pyramid and everyone will chant to the water gods to turn on the water. Towels and lifevests are available poolside.

The water slide is 123 ft long, 16 foot high Jaguar waterslide emanating from the back of the pyramid. A jaguar spits tries to get you wet as you shoot under him. There is a "walkway type bridge", which gives you a chance to watch or take photos of the kids (or adults) sliding on the water slide, from above. Yes, life jackets are available at poolside and the slide dumps into a shallow part of the pool. No running on the pool deck or double riders on the slide allowed. Also included at the Dig Site is a kid's pool area that 5 shooting rays of water into the air.

Guests can find showers, storage lockers, and restrooms at pool.

Infants and children in diapers are welcome in all of Coronado Springs’ pools, as long as they're wearing swim diapers. Water wings are allowed at all Disney pools, and every the main pool has free life vests in a variety of sizes:

Wheelchair Accessibility at Coronado Springs’ Pools

Coronado Springs’ main pool has a lift that can help guests with special needs get into the shallow area of the pool. In addition, the quiet pools have platforms to assist guests in wheelchairs while transferring into the pool. Check with any lifeguard for assistance..

Quiet Pools - the quiet pools are located in each of the villages: casitas, ranchos, and cabanas. No towels are available at the quiet pools, just use your room towels. The CSR quiet pools are the first on Disney property to use Bromine instead of Chlorine! All the pools at WDW are geared with children in mind, so there are always steps into pools. The Dig Site pool as well as the quiet pools also has wheelchair access.
